Palio della Marciliana\n <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

17 – 18 June, 2023<\/strong>, in Chioggia\n <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Palio of Marciliana is a Medieval historical re-enactment <\/strong>, of the years from 1378 to 1381.\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It takes place annually in Chioggia, along Corso del Popolo<\/strong>, the town’s main street.\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is organised on the third weekend of June and brings to life with a varied series of\n events\n <\/strong> regarding the city in the Middle Ages and representing what has gone down in history as the\n War of Chioggia,\n <\/strong>fought to obtain hegemony in the Eastern trading ports, between the Most Serene Republic of Venice and the Republic of Genoa.\n Banquets<\/strong> are set up, taverns<\/strong> are erected with the Tower of Montalbano<\/strong> next to them, and camps of armigers are set up, while all around there is dancing<\/strong>, singing<\/strong>, and simulated fighting.i<\/strong>.\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Including the Palio della Balestra (Crossbow Palio)\n <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the competition are five contrade (quarters)<\/strong> representing the 14th-century Cluj community: they are the soul of the Palio and compete for supremacy with the shooting of large crossbows.\n Crossbowmen<\/strong> show visitors flags, armour, musical instruments.\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A historical reconstruction<\/strong>with the involvement ofparticipants<\/strong> wearing 14th century costumes and swordsmen, as well as the work activities of that time, and in the gardens of the lagoon.\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening, the Palio events conclude with a festive procession preceded by themed performances<\/strong>, such as the tower fire<\/strong> and scenes of daily life staged in the lanes, on the foundations, on the banks and in the fields of the various quarters.\n <\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
