The Festival of the Redeemer

The Festival of the Redeemer is a traditional festival of Venice celebrated the third Saturday of July and celebrates the end of the plague that struck the city from 1575 to 1577.

In addition to its religious nature, the festival is notable for its big firework display that takes place on the night between Saturday and Sunday in the basin of San Marco and the three regattas of typical Venetian boats the following day, thus attracting a wide audience from all over the world.
