Excursions to the island of Pellestrina

Pellestrina is a beautiful island in the Venice lagoon a stone’s throw away from Chioggia and Camping Tropical. With its array of multi-colored houses and its ancient sea walls, the picturesque island of Pellestrina is a thin strip of land that extends from Lido island to the south.

It is made up of the centres of San Pietro in Volta, Portosecco, Pellestrina and St. Anthony, and its history begins in the fourteenth century at the time of the War of Chioggia, after which it was divided among the four noble families that rebuilt it and gave their names to the four quarters of the island (Vianello, Busetto, Zennaro, Scarpa).

Pellestrina is a unique cycling excursion: while cycling you can admire the Murazzi and the Duomo of All Saints, the beaches of Pellestrina and the LIPU (RSPB) oasis of Ca 'Roman.
